This project is located in Manaquan, NJ where many homes along the Jersey Shore suffer from a high moisture content. Although this home has cement ground floors throughout the crawlspace, this does not stop moisture from rising up into the living space creating a conducive environment for mold growth. In fact, we have experienced that not only are there still issues with moisture levels in the crawlspace on properties that have a cement ground, but they also have an odor that emits up into the living space. When the property has a high-water table, cement ground can still have an adverse effect on the living environment, similar to having soil or sand ground. Placing an effective moisture vapor barrier on the ground and encapsulating the envelope of the crawlspace, termed crawlspace encapsulation, is ideal. Additionally, installing floor insulation helps maintain the temperature throughout the year, keeping your HVAC from running more often to keep the temperatures just right in your home year-round. Insulation also helps isolate your crawlspace from your living area and helps to block off any unwanted odors from rising into your living space.
